Star Citizen Production Schedule Now Public

  • 248

Remember Star Citizen? You know that game that has been funded for four years and still counting and aims to be that perfect game? Chris Roberts, the brainchild of it all, wrote a letter to his donors announcing that it seems fair now to remove the internal curtain about the current production schedule. He was worried about it dividing the community into one group that only sees things as late while the other group critcizes about being kept in the dark. He's decided that it's finally to just put the production schedule that he and the other developers use to keep track of what to work on. Individual developer names are masked of course for confidentiality. You can see the full report here.

I think that is kinda cool but I'm not sure if giving all this information to people waiting for your game is at all helpful. They've been patient for so long, won't seeing this schedule just be even more agonizing since one of the caveats is the dates on those schedules are just estimates imposed on employees to "make them do their job" in a "timely fashion"? I do praise the transparency though. What do you guys think? Does this production schedule seem useful and specifically, if you are already a donor, does the schedule make you more hopeful or more dejected?

I'm not a donor but I think its cool.  I really like the breakdown by the subsection.  It give a better glimpse of what they're working on.  Probably sucks for the developers because there is now even more pressure to get stuff out on time.

I think it's nice to know it's still being worked on and how it's going
